Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a chiropractic technique most commonly associated with the use of “blocks” or “wedges” that are placed under the hips and pelvis to encourage decompression of the lower back, gentle stretching of the spinal column and rebalancing of the pelvis. Specifically, this technique focuses on the very intimate relationship between the sacrum (tailbone) and occiput (base of the skull) and how these two bones are interconnected by extensions of the spinal cord. SOT was founded almost 100 years ago by Dr MB De Jarnette, who was first an engineer before becoming a chiropractor.
